"Neonatal tetanus can be prevented when a pregnant woman receives at least two doses of the vaccine. In cases of blockages, we expand the target group, vaccinating not only pregnant women but all women of childbearing age," stated Dr. Felismina Neto, the project mentor.

The initiative, set to directly benefit 6,000 women aged 14 to 49, focuses on the prevention of neonatal tetanus, a severe and potentially fatal disease caused by infection with the bacterium Clostridium tetani.

The project includes a series of activities designed to ensure the intervention's effectiveness, such as:Identifying high-risk areas in the district; training community health agents to disseminate best practices for prevention; promoting information, education, and communication (IEC) campaigns about the risks of vaccine non-compliance; conducting vaccination campaigns for pregnant women starting from the 20th week of gestation and women of childbearing age and monitoring and evaluating activities, with results shared at the project's conclusion.

"By supporting the Expanded Vaccination Program, we reaffirm our commitment to the health and well-being of communities. We believe that initiatives like this are essential to preventing diseases such as neonatal tetanus and fostering Angola's sustainable growth," said Eng. Edson R. dos Santos, Chairman of Etu Energias.

Through this initiative, Etu Energias strengthens its commitment to sustainable development and improving the quality of life in the communities it serves, promoting health practices that pave the way for a safer and healthier future.
