During his contribution, Fernando Hermes highlighted Etu Energias’ preparations for a new phase of growth, driven by the expansion of its asset portfolio, stronger partnerships and the identification of new investment opportunities. In this context, he pointed to the agreed transactions to acquire stakes in Blocks 14 and 14K, involving Azule Energy and Chevron, respectively, with Chariot as a partner, as part of the company’s strategy to expand its presence in Angola’s oil sector.
He also called for greater involvement by African financial institutions in financing the sector, emphasising the importance of partnerships with development finance institutions to improve access to capital on more competitive terms for local and regional companies.
“We still need to find ways to secure lower-cost financing for local or regional companies like ours,” said Fernando Hermes, highlighting the importance of creating conditions that enable African companies to strengthen their investment capacity and seize new growth opportunities.
Fernando Hermes further emphasised the importance of maintaining the collaborative approach adopted by the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) in upcoming licensing rounds as a means of attracting investment and unlocking Angola’s oil potential.
Etu Energias’ participation in AEW 2026 reinforces its commitment to sustainable growth, value creation and the advancement of Angolan private capital within Africa’s energy sector.
